Peoples climate action
Peace Festival became an attraction
Denmark's largest peace festival in recent history took place on September 12th. The potential consequences of climate change were on the agenda.
38 associations and groups held a peace festival on 12th of September in Karen Minde Community Centre in Valby. The festival involved the participants in the context of the alternative summit, Klimaforum09 and illustrated the need to get support from the population.
Already before midday started the discussion on solutions to the world's climate problems and more than 100 related issues surfaced. Do politicians have a real opportunity to change the development? Or will the current capital forces call for a change community structure? Those were some of the issues that were debated.
The day offered a varied program ranging from dialogue, debate and film to lots of music, storytelling and circus for the kids. Artists like Anne Marie Helger, Jesper Klein, and Tamara Anisette Rosanes performed. All in all, the organizers estimate that more than 600 visitors had found their way to Karen Minde Community Centre in the beautiful weather.
